Newborn Care Specialist
A Newborn Care Specialist, also known as a baby nurse or infant care specialist, is someone who is there to lend a helping hand and provide expert care for your precious newborn. They are trained in all aspects of newborn care, from feeding and bathing to soothing and establishing healthy sleep routines. Their main goal is to support you as parents and help you navigate the exciting yet challenging journey of caring for your little one. They offer guidance, education, and a comforting presence to ensure that you and your baby feel confident and well-cared for during this special time.
Typically NCS’ are hired during the evening, anytime between 6-10pm, and stay throughout the night, working shifts that range from 8-12 hours. They will focus on establishing healthy sleep habits for your baby and attending to their needs, including feeding, changing, burping, and soothing them back to sleep. As Good As Me can find Newborn Care Specialists who can work every night of the week or even for just one night a week so you can catch up on some sleep. Most NCS’ require at least an 8-hour overnight shift. The rates for NCS’ services range from $30 to $50 per hour depending on the specialist you choose and your location.
We recommend that families start looking for a newborn care professional during the second or third trimester of pregnancy. However, we want to assure you that we can assist any family, regardless of whether the baby has already come home or if six weeks have passed. It’s never too late to reach out for our support and guidance!
